Volunteering
Volunteering is all about giving back to others and making a positive difference in their lives.
This can be a difficult section to find suitable activities, especially for younger students.
There are some ideas, a programme planner and an activity log in the downloads box below. You might like to consider activities such as litter picking in your local area, helping with a local Park Run, working with children in Rainbows, Brownies, Beavers or Cubs, or taking part in one of the online initiatives outlined below.
Online opportunities:
Missing maps - is an organisation that aims to make maps of vulnerable areas and communities in the world where humanitarian aid may be required. It is supported by the British and American Red Cross, Medicins Sans Frontieres among others. More information is available here.
Zooniverse - is a citizen science community, giving you the chance to participate in real scientific research. Register to find an interesting project and get working! More information is available here.
Be my eyes - connects people needing sighted support with volunteers through live video. More information is available here.
National Archives - there are opportunities to volunteer with the National Archives. More information is available here.
If you take on one of these opportunities, your Leader will be able to be your Assessor. Please remember to ask them first and then maintain a log and journal of evidence.
